Surviving MLK Day

First, let me give a shoutout to the good Dr. King. There’s a funny scene in Barbershop where Cedric calls MLK a whore…so I see what the controversy was all about with that film. Incidentally, Barbershop is the most postive film I’ve seen in a while about urban black culture. Hilarious movie…shot in South Chicago and I know some CCC folks worked on it. Rent the DVD if you haven’t seen it…

I went down to Mich Ave with Chad this morning to take advantage of a sale at Williams-Sonoma. The Mich Ave location was closing and an employee had tipped us off yesterday that they would have floor displays marked down to 50% off! Chad picked up a nice cappacino machine and I couldn’t resist the mother of all Cuisinarts. What a steal!

We walked down to Borders to look at some cookbooks and walked through a location set for Surviving Christmas, shooting in front of Loyola University. There were a lot of extras all over the place with Christmas presents/shopping bags and horse carriages, so I guess we didn’t look too out of place with our loot from WS. I talked to some of the extras and the 2nd A.D. who said that Chasing Amy’s Ben Affleck would be here tomorrow. The Daredevil is in Chicago…wonder if J.Lo is braving the cold too?

Today begins my first of 3 weeks off from school. I’m planning on watching a bunch of movies and working with the Cuisinart. Salsa anybody?
