Let’s Take A Closer Look At Mark Morrison’s “Return Of The Mack”

Ooooh, come on. Ooh yeah.
Well, I tried to tell you so (Yes, I did)
But I guess you didn’t know, as the saddest story goes
Baby, now I got the flow cause I knew it from the start
Baby, when you broke my heart that I had to come again
And show you that I’m with

Yes the breakup is inevitable and Morrison sees it coming before his baby does. He has set the stage for tragedy beyond mere mortal capacity.

You lied to me
All those times I said that I loved you
You lied to me
Yes, I tried, yes, I tried
You lied to me
Even though you know I’d die for you
You lied to me
Yes, I cried, yes, I cried

Morrison is venting his anger and frustrations towards his significant other for obvious deceit and…lies.

Return of the Mack
It is Return of the Mack
Come on Return of the Mack
Oh, my god You know that I’ll be back
Here I am

Return of the Mack
Once again Return of the Mack
Top of the world Return of the Mack
Watch my flow You know that I’ll be back
Here I go

Now the verse is where a leap of logic must be took. Clearly, Morrison himself is not - rather hasn’t been a Mack for years. Now that his lover has dooped, or “Macked” on him, he feels as if returning to his old “Mack” ways will help him deal with the loss and emptiness he is experiencing.

So, I’m back up in the game Running things like half my swing
Lettin’ all the people know That I’m back to run the show
‘Cause what you did you know was wrong
And all the nasty things you’ve done
So, baby, listen carefully While I sing my comeback song

Morrison is back in full Mack-mode. He is kicking ass and taking names.

You lied to me Cause she said she’d never turn on me
You lied to me But you did, but you did
You lied to me All this pain you said I’d never feel
You lied to me but I do, but I do do do

And here is the one gaping paradox and flaw in this entire opus. Morrison claims he’s a Mack again, yet he’s wretching all over town - or to his baby about how he himself got played. Clearly, this is not typical Mack behavior.

Return of the Mack
It is Return of the Mack
Hold on Return of the Mack
Don’t you know You know that I’ll be back (Here I go)
Return of the Mack Oh, little girl
Return of the Mack Once more, girl
Return of the Mack Up and down
You know that I’ll be back round and round

Ahhhh, Mark
Stop worrying about your big break

Morrisson sees and recognizes that he’s got to stop churning up all of this pain. As soon as he stops, he will be able to move on and follow the path of the rightious Mack.

You lied to me Cause he said she’d never turn on me
You lied to me But you did, but you did
You lied to me All this pain you said I’d never feel
You lied to me but I do, but I do do do

But he can’t do it…the pain is too much. He must sing about it one more time.

Return of the Mack It is
Return of the Mack Come on
Return of the Mack Oh, my god You know that I’ll be back
Here I am

Return of the Mack Once again
Return of the Mack Top of the world
Return of the Mack Watch my flow
You know that I’ll be back
Don’t you know.

Return of the Mack……….

That’s right, world. Mark Morrison will be back, once again, top of the world, watch his flow. Don’t you know?

Why Panther Kicks Ass (Or Just One of Many Reasons)

Gee, I Have So Many Windows Open…How Can I Switch In Between Apps?

OS X Jaguar

With A Little Feature Called Expose’

OS X Jaguar showing off Expose

Hmm…if Panther isn’t going to be released until Friday, how is it that I’m running it on my machine? You underestimate my sneakyness…

My opinion: well worth the upgrade, however you can get it.

That’s The Last Time I Skip My African History Class…

Sometimes, I like to do a little research on my prof’s at school. A bit of a background check, not just to look at credentials but also to understand why it is they’re teaching.

I’m really disgusted with school this semester. To say that I’m undermotivated is an understatement. However, I got a spark when I did some background research on my African History prof, Prexy Nesbitt.

First of all, anyone who results in 10+ pages of consistent hits from a Google search must be significant.

That, and when he very subtly mentioned today in class that he enjoys spending time with Nelson Mandela… I guess my prof is pretty well respected, not only in that part of the world but here as well. Interesting that he also said he was surprised to hear Mr. Mandela, the most tolerant man he knows, say that the United States has pretty “mediocre leadership” right now…

I think that’s Nelson Mandela speak for “that cracker’s gotta go”.

And I agree.

There Is Movie Dialogue…

And then there’s …that’s a tall drink of cocksucker… It was worth the wait, QT…and it will be worth it for Volume Dos, I’m sure.

Feet, They Hardly Touch The Ground…

Had an amazing evening with Dev at the Sting concert in Grant Park. As to avoid the corporate stinch, crowds and lack of places to lay down and watch the *shooting stars*, we camped out just in front of the Buckingham Fountain - which I had never really seen before tonight. It’s quite impressive, especially when they light it up at night (tonight it was lit up in Cubs blue).

The show was great…Keb Mo’ (great) and Johnny Lang (decent) played opening sets. Gary Sinese came out to Emcee for Sting. As far back as we were, it sounded perfect and we could still see the jumbotrons. Sting played a great set…typically I would have the setlist down cold, but this is probably 90% accurate…

Walking On The Moon
After The Rain Has Fallen
Send Your Love
Message In A Bottle
Don’t Stand So Close To Me
If You Love Somebody Set Them Free
Fields Of Gold
Englishman In New York
Roxanne
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
Desert Rose
If I Ever Lose My Faith In You
Every Breath You Take

E: Until…

One exception to a great show and perfect evening…Sting starts playing Englishman In New York, my favorite non-Police song…and then after the first chorus stops the song and says, “Wait a minute…what fucking city are we in?” Then they just go into a really not-so-great Roxanne…

Oh and the other exception…
