D.C. - Day 4

Well we made it downtown but not for too long…we felt like we were back in Chicago…the wind was at gale force, it was extremely cold even with the sun out…not great sightseeing weather.

So we took in the International Spy Museum…pretty cool as long as you go ready to look at exhibits from World War II and The Cold War.

And then we had lunch at the first place we saw walking around in the neighborhood…Austin Grill. Pretty cool place since whoever owns the D.C. area chain has obviously been to Austin…photographs of Austin are up on the walls and in the booths, the food is named after specifics to Austin and they serve SHINER BOCK…which, to my experience is unavailable anywhere north of Oklahoma.

The cold weather sent us back on the Metro to Rockville…and what a pleasure riding the Metro was. It’s fast, smooth, comfortable and the stops are incredibly nice and unusual…basically the exact opposite of the shitty Chicago L.

D.C. - Day 3

Yeah so we didn’t quite make it into D.C. this morning…since we woke up to the lovely sound of Terra calling us losers at 1pm…

I love being on vacation…

When we finally got our act together, we swapped D.C. today for groceries on Friday…

So off to Costco we went to buy a few bulk items for dinner and Terra. Chicken breasts, liquid soap and a huge frickin’ container of Old Bay for ME!

The highlight of the day was a lovely dinner at Hamburger Hamlet, Dev’s old stomping grounds. I had a Ahi Tuna sandwich with the French Onion soup to start and the Brownie Mountain to boot. Meeting Meredith’s parents was interesting…can always tell a lot about a person from meeting their parents…

And so I wait for Saturday when I will met Dev’s parents…and I’m not scared.

D.C. - Day 2

Well it’s almost 2am EST and I need to be up in 5 hours or so, to ride to the Metra station with Dev and Mike - on Mike’s way to work. He works for ABC News and offered to show us around the Nightline set. Devin and I were interested in some photo ops with Koppel and Donaldson but apparently things are hectic with the primaries going on. Mike and Terra told us a funny story about a ABCNews party where Donaldson made a scary bear pose and noise to their little 2 year old son. Now that would have been hellascary. Sam Donaldson is scary just delivering the news…

But we do have plans to hit a Smithsonian or two and maybe take in some monuments. I do know one thing about D.C…you could spend a week visiting everything there is to see and do and maybe hit 50% of just the interesting stuff.

We did go shopping today and I was outfitted with a sexy shirt and a ring. I’m wearing jewelry now…what the fuck?

D.C. - Day 1

I am EXHAUSTED! After catching an early flight out to BWI and driving on *treacherous* roads with ice and slush, I made it to Terra, Mike and Aidan’s house. We spent the afternoon hanging out, talking and playing with Aidan. That led into catching up on music videos (low and behold, MTV does still play music videos) and some fantastic east coast/new york style pizza. Mike is a hot sauce fan so he had the Chaluha ready to go.

We then watched American Idol (super) and had an outstanding competition of Yahzee where I gave everyone a KB Masterpiece…or a royal ass kicking.

Tomorrow I maybe heading down to the Tyson’s Corner Apple Store to do a video conference with our new store manager back at NMA for some possible “genius” promotion…

But all I’m looking forward to right now is the bed. ZZZzzzzzz….

Before I Leave For Our Nation’s Capital…

I wanted to make a quick blog post…

I’ve been up all night, monitoring the weather and packing…I’m hoping I can get the hell out of dodge before the weather gets too crummy either here or there. This is why traveling somewhere like California (2003) or Hawaii (2002) is nice this time of year…don’t have to worry about stupid weather delays.

But, I am looking forward to seeing Dev and meeting her ENTIRE family…more updates from D.C./MD to come…

Do You Like Chicken Enchiladas?

Tonight, Luke and I hosted a Enchilada/Karaoke party and I got around to posting some pictures. The enchiladas were damn good and the company (aTm alums) was nice too.
