D.C. - Day 4

Well we made it downtown but not for too long…we felt like we were back in Chicago…the wind was at gale force, it was extremely cold even with the sun out…not great sightseeing weather.

So we took in the International Spy Museum…pretty cool as long as you go ready to look at exhibits from World War II and The Cold War.

And then we had lunch at the first place we saw walking around in the neighborhood…Austin Grill. Pretty cool place since whoever owns the D.C. area chain has obviously been to Austin…photographs of Austin are up on the walls and in the booths, the food is named after specifics to Austin and they serve SHINER BOCK…which, to my experience is unavailable anywhere north of Oklahoma.

The cold weather sent us back on the Metro to Rockville…and what a pleasure riding the Metro was. It’s fast, smooth, comfortable and the stops are incredibly nice and unusual…basically the exact opposite of the shitty Chicago L.

D.C. - Day 3

Yeah so we didn’t quite make it into D.C. this morning…since we woke up to the lovely sound of Terra calling us losers at 1pm…

I love being on vacation…

When we finally got our act together, we swapped D.C. today for groceries on Friday…

So off to Costco we went to buy a few bulk items for dinner and Terra. Chicken breasts, liquid soap and a huge frickin’ container of Old Bay for ME!

The highlight of the day was a lovely dinner at Hamburger Hamlet, Dev’s old stomping grounds. I had a Ahi Tuna sandwich with the French Onion soup to start and the Brownie Mountain to boot. Meeting Meredith’s parents was interesting…can always tell a lot about a person from meeting their parents…

And so I wait for Saturday when I will met Dev’s parents…and I’m not scared.

I was just listening to Radiohead - Backdrifts
