Halloween

Started at the stroke of midnight as Dev and I emerged from our insane asylum as The Evil French Maid and The Invisible Man. Dev looked extremely sexy and maybe even too naughty. I was really proud of my costume and tried to replicate the look from the original 1933 film. The downside was that my costume cut off pretty much any effort to communicate verbally and impaired my vision. I don’t know how ol’ Claude Rains did it.

Revelations 6:12

I guess it was more like 1/3rd of that freaky scripture last night. I have never witnessed a lunar eclipse quite like the one last night and I was excited that even in the big city it was so visable. I was reminded of how people must have interpreted something like this before they understood it. I was also reminded of celestial event parties out at El Rancho Stiba…good times.

HCI circa 1970

Some are suggesting that the iPod Silhouette ads were inspired by the work of a very early multimedia artist named Myron Krueger. I think you could say a lot of today’s visual effects could be inspired from his piece “Videoplace”. But the similarities are at the very least, uncanny. It’s almost hard to imagine that this was doable in 1970.

Speaking of iTunes…

Apple announced more international iTunes Stores, the iPod Photo and U2 Special Edition iPod just a few minutes ago. The rumor mills had been talking about them for a few weeks now so they don’t come as any huge surprise. The iPod Photo is hella cool but I’m not sure how I feel about the U2 iPod. I know a lot of people have been wanting a black iPod for sometime now but the red click wheel is a little cheese and the band signatures on the back is definitely cheese. I wonder if there are more special edition iPods like this in the works?

So if Apple released a “Cypress Hill” special edition iPod, would the click wheel be in the shape of a marijuana leaf?

Oh, FINALLY they added a search tool for iMix’s on the store…that was really annoying me.

G-Force For iTunes

I had no idea the G-Force wizard Andy O’Meara had created a version of his visualization plug-in for iTunes (Mac + Windows). In fact, I had heard Apple had bought a very early version of G-Force to use as their own “Visualizer”. During the days of yesteryear (Winamp), G-Force and Groove Salad provided many an hour of stimulation. To discover it’s been out for a makes “where the hell have you been, Kev” comes to mind.

I just downloaded the new freeware version and it’s fantastic. As soon as I’m not so cheap, I’ll probably upgrade to the “Gold” version. Just one more reason for me to get a new video card…
