My New Preciousssss

I’ve just spent the better part of the morning doing laundry, cleaning the kitchen and cooking a kickass, french old-country style omlette wearing one of these around my neck:

iPod shuffle

Devin surprised me with this little gem last night over a nice dinner as an early birthday present but more importantly, a sign of encouragement for me getting back on the healthy train.

I’ve finally found a gym that is convenient for me to get to (a block away from the Grand red line stop - where I get on/off for work) and finally can afford a gym membership ($70/month).

Ironically, I had told Devin days earlier that I was very interested in getting a shuffle - since no iPod can hold my 70+GB library of music, what’s the point of having a 20-60GB? Well, obviously there are but the shuffle works for me because:

- It’s very work-out friendly because it weighs almost nothing
- It’s easy to use - set it and forget it (right, B?)
- I’m a playlist and/or random music listener

But most important, it’s a very thoughtful gift from my lover and you can’t beat that…

I’ve Been Ratted Out By Time Magazine

They go out three nights a week, sometimes more. Each of them has had several jobs since college; Ellen is on her 17th, counting internships, since 1996. They don’t own homes. They change apartments frequently. None of them are married, none have children. All of them are from 24 to 28 years old.

Kathy Griffin Should Win a Golden Globe

I did not watch but 5 or 10 minutes of the 2005 Golden Globes - mainly because I’m not too invested in the nominated films but also because I’m a little sick of Hollywood celebrating itself. I suppose the industry of celebrating celebrities is 5% business, which is necessary for Hollywood filmmaking - and I can live with that. The other 95% is just plain ridiculous.

I am now regretful that I did not tune in for E!’s pre-Golden Globe coverage. Roger Ebert has written a hilarious essay on how Kathy Griffin mocked everyone the whole time in a very witty and appropriate manner. The essay also points why Star Jones needs a humility-bullet in the head just like every other diva on the planet.

Brilliant.
