I’m Obsessing Over Kong

I’m pretty sure I maybe more excited about King Kong than I was over the LOTR films…not to say I didn’t worship their badass-ness. But I am craving a good, down right, kick-ass adventure film.

The trailer leads me to believe that this one will be the new Jaws, Jurassic Park, etc. blockbuster that everyone will remember and honor in their DVD libraries.

And then I read the Newsweek come-see-this-movie-article and I get even more huffed up.

Choice quotes:

“Well,” says Jackson, “he doesn’t so much get it bitten off. It’s more like his head gets swallowed and digested by acidic juices and it slowly dissolves into a sort of creamy pulp.”

“She got very jealous when my wife came to visit. She actually threw a bottle of water at her.”

She is also, as Jack Black helpfully points out, hot, and well paired with her romantic leading man. “Adrien and Naomi—I wanna see them get it on,” he says.

“I know I shouldn’t say this,” she begins, “but when other directors see this movie, they’re going to f—ing give up.”

Happy Thanksgiving

Since we’re so easily burned out on traditional holiday cuisine, my family decided to prepare Thanksgiving with a Southwestern twist. I attempted to make Oyster Dressing Tamales but after some tragedies, I can officially issue the death certificate. Note: Cornbread stuffing really doesn’t have any of the same properties as masa…

The good news is I had plenty of stuffing and just baked it in the oven. Crisis has been averted and I still have some avacado/tomatillo sauce to go with it if that is desired. We are going to have some more traditional offerings and now I think I’m just as excited about those.

Smoked Turkey rules.

It’s been a good year and I have lots to be thankful for. And to that, I’m going to eat and drink until I burst.
