I have recently become aware of the fact that Santa did things a little differently at my house than he does at most others’. Christmas for me was very exciting: after getting little to no shuteye, I would sneak out of my room to inspect what Santa had brought me. And I could do this at 3/4am because Santa did NOT wrap my gifts.
Imagine seeing the gifts you’ve been waiting weeks for, setup and on display as if you’re in a toy store. That’s priceless, in the words of Mastercard.
After talk with others, I realize that this is not how Christmas mornings happen in many households. Presents from Santa are wrapped and mixed in with the other gifts that have been laying under the tree. This is wrong on many levels, the least of which is:
- The excitement of waking up and finding out what Santa brought you is…not there
- Unecessary opportunity for gift tag signatures to be confused with each other
- Tree huggers: less paper wasted
- How do you wrap a bicycle or a pony?
Santa and his helpers: Do the kids a favor and stop wrapping the gifts.
