You Missed Me

A high-rise building about an avenue and street block away from my apartment just got Donnie Darko’ed by a helicopter/small aircraft. Naturally, accurate details are at a premium right now but so far, the incident has claimed one two lives and the fires have been put out.

If ordinary citizens were freaked out by this - just think of the firemen who had to go up in that building and put out the fire…

Go FDNY!

*UpdateI: Rest in peace, Cory Lidle.

*UpdateII: Excellent visualization of Lidle’s flight and crash into the UES high rise via NYTimes.

When Microsoft Wants to Be…

…creative, witty, intelligent and funny - they can be. And they do it by paying those who are creative, witty, intelligent and funny to be creative, witty, intelligent and funny for them.

“Sorry I just had a brain fart. It was a silent, but deadly one.”

I was just listening to Demetri Martin (with Film School) on that website I just mentioned.

Jet’s Latest Opus

One of the most brilliant record reviews of all time for Jet’s new album Shine On courtesy of Pitchfork.

Lesson: iPod commercials will only take you so far in life.

Masks

I am attempting to continue a short-lived tradition of making this website a bit creepier during the month of October. My original idea was to feature diagrams of Halloween masks from US Patents - and I took a pass at it and overdid it - still need to work on it. The noose will suffice for today…it’s appropriate.

As I was looking for said mask diagrams, I came across this webpage on the USPTO’s website - as in the federal government.

I doubt that page has been touched in 10-12 years. If it has, that’s really scary.
