Flipping through the issue of Variety my roommate brought home for me to see left me flabbergasted. New Line, in hopes of promoting Rush Hour 3, quite literally sponsored the entire issue by having studios around town leave the type of congratulatory ads you might see in a high school yearbook or school play program for becoming a “Billion-Dollar director”. I’m guessing either Ratner didn’t receive enough of that when he was a child or he’s just that shameless. Probably both.
Ratner would like to think this puts him in the league with Spielberg, etc. Not so fast. Ignoring the quality of films made, The Berg - with a few welcome exceptions - doesn’t make sequels. Ratner, on the other hand, is a hack and a studio tool.
But a wealthy tool at that, who’s made the Hollywood studios plenty of money. This is what passes for a successful career as a director? Lovely.
Defamer does a great job of documenting Ratner’s douchebaggery on almost a daily basis while he’s out promoting a film. And just think, that’s when he’s on his best behavior…
