Good Golly, Tis the Season to Be Merry

I have lost count of how many years my family has sat down to watch Christmas Vacation during the holidays. It is, by far, my favorite tradition of the fun old-fashioned family Christmas.

Merry Christmas to all — and to all a good night.

How To Cook Vishnu the Elephant

The Joker published his own recipe on page 2 of the Ha Ha Ha Times. Looks promising but only 10 lbs of diced bacon? Yes, everything is better with bacon.

Looking forward to seeing that Dark Knight preview this weekend…

Gondry’s Declare Independence

This is the seventh video that Michel Gondry has directed for Bjork. Like the others, this one is strangely brilliant.

The Trailer for Speed Racer

must be viewed in HD with Quicktime. The infinite depth of field and CG compositing give it a real-world-video-game-world feel, if that makes any sense. I wrote about this film in August so the anticipation is building appropriately for a May 2008 release.

No Country For Old Men

No Country For Old Men

Anton Chigurh (played by Javier Bardem), gives me the creeps and then some in No Country For Old Men (photo: IMDB)

No Country For Old Men observes the dynamic range of good, evil and innocence within the human condition. This film is nothing short of a significant accomplishment for the Coen’s as well as their cast and crew. While it is not a traditional Coen Bros. joint, I suspect this be at the top of the (long) list of films they are remembered for.

I could go on, but I’d just be re-hashing what Roger Ebert said about the film.
