In April 2006, CmdrTaco of Slashdot.org announced a CSS redesign contest. Although the contest was geared towards only changing the CSS document, I wanted to see if the underlying markup could be improved upon. Indeed, there were many opportunities for making the code more efficient and semantic. My prototype, although not a winner in the contest, demonstrates some of those possibilites for one of the most-visited websites on the Internet.
